Woodgraining
We offer quality woodgraining services for your restoration project using the latest Grain It Technologies methods. This means that your part will be wood grained as it was at the factory, using wood graining plates and roller applicators (not hand painted). We use nothing but the best products from the substrate on up to the base and clear coat.

What Is Woodgraining?
Woodgraining is a faux finishing technique. A way to make something that is not wood look like wood. Our system is a old system used by many manufacturers from the 1920s until the mid 1950s. With this system you can woodgrain just about anything you can paint. In addition to dashes and garnish moldings, one can make a steel security door have the warm look of mahogany. Make a computer case look like cherry wood to match your cherry desk and office furniture.

The following process is applied to all parts that are to be woodgrained:

  • Media-blast part to bare metal.
  • Apply a zinc-rich etch primer.
  • Apply a primer surfacer.
  • Sand parts to prepare for base coat application.
  • Apply the base coat in the appropriate color for your vehicle - we have a database of correct colors for all vehicles.
  • Apply correct woodgrain for your vehicle per original factory specifications - we have a database for that as well.
  • Apply a high-gloss clear coat by Azko-Nobel
  • Wet sand clear coat.
  • Buff to a high, show-finish gloss using a 3-stage compound system.

Some samples are shown below.
